Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser for Scott Family April 2 in Broken Bow

BROKEN BOW–A special cornhole tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Broken Bow Golf Club (2280 Memorial Drive). The event is a fundraiser to help with medical and travel expenses for the Scott Family.

Baby Leeryck Scott is the 10-month-old daughter of Talon and Cami Scott. In October Leeryck was diagnosed with White-Sutton Syndrome which according to mother Cami, is a neurological/development delay issue that really affects motor skills and speech. Cami Scott told KCNI/KBBN her daughter was born a little bit early and following some concerns, doctors decided to conduct genetic testing.

The Scott family has taken numerous trips to Omaha and Kearney to meet with doctors, physical and occupational therapists, and to conduct various studies and tests for Leeryck.

“I really enjoy all of our doctors. They all work together really well because they don’t want to jeopardize one aspect of it for the other. So they do really good about working together and confiding in each other so they make sure they have the best treatment plan for Leeryck at this time,” Cami Scott said.

Proceeds from the cornhole tournament will help the family with these expenses.

The event will include the cornhole tournament, a free-will donation taco/nacho bar, as well as a silent auction. The cost is $40 per 2-person team. Sign up for the tournament at the Broken Bow Golf Club or text Amber at 308-440-1069.

“I invite everybody to come out and enjoy the meal. You don’t necessarily have to play the cornhole tournament–it’s just kind of more of a social event too. Free-will donation for the meal,” Cami said.

Cami and Talon have three older children as well: Hesston (8), Legacee (6), and Merryck (3) who all love their baby sister!

“Don’t be afraid to reach out to other moms and families and people that are in similar situations for that extra support really,” Cami Scott said as a piece of advice to other families on similar medical journeys with their kids.

Donations for the silent auction can be sent to Amber Rynearson at 823 South 13th Avenue, Broken Bow, NE 68822.

The event is sponsored by the Broken Bow Lions Club and checks can be made payable to the Lions Club.
