Convicted Sex Offender Returning to Prison

BEATRICE – A Beatrice man, whose criminal history dates back to 1977, is going to prison for violating the Sex Offender Registry Act and driving on a suspended license. Dusty Mayhew has been ordered to serve two years in prison for the registry violation, and 18 months for the driving conviction.   The sentences will be served at the same time, and Mayhew received credit for 193 days in custody. Prosecutor, Amanda Spracklen-Hogan, said Mayhew’s past includes assaults, burglaries, drug and protection order violations. Defense attorney Lee Timan says this case doesn’t present an extreme risk to the community.
