The Nebraska Primary Election is coming up on May 12 and while it might be the last thing on our mind, some of you could be wondering, “How will I be able to vote without risking my health?” The answer is quite simple: Early voting ballot.
According to Secretary of State Bob Evnen, Nebraska is a no reason state when it comes to an early voting ballot. This means that if you would like to request an early ballot you can do so by simply filling out an application through the Secretary of State’s website, requesting the form through your local election office, or through the Secretary of State’s Office.
As this year is unique with the COVID-19 pandemic, early ballot request forms will be sent to every registered voter in Custer County from the Secretary of State’s Office. These applications must be completed and turned in to your local election office no later than May 1 and the ballots must be turned in by 8 PM on Election Day, May 12.
According to Custer County Clerk Connie Gracey, early voter registration forms will also be available in the X-tra and newspapers around the county, allowing even more ways to make sure your vote is counted. As there will be multiple forms available to voters, only ONE FORM PER REGISTERED VOTER needs to be filled out and returned to the county clerk’s office. Poll sites will also be available for those who would rather vote in person. Secretary of State Evnen said that poll workers will be given kits that will include hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, etc. to keep the workers and voters as safe as possible.
