Columbus Officer life flighted to Omaha after shooting
Law enforcement is at the scene of an active shooting at 3410 16th St.
COLUMBUS  -- A Columbus Police Officer is being life flighted to an Omaha trauma center after a shooting earlier tonight. According to Nebraska State Patrol Troop B Commander Paul Hattan, Columbus Police were serving a warrant at around 7:45 p.m. tonight when the officer was shot. The suspect was also shot and his condition is unknown. Police and first responders have surrounded a home at 3410 16th Street and the Patrol says a SWAT team is assembling as there is another person believed to be inside the home at this time. Right now, the officer's injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The officer's identity is unknown. This is a developing situation. Stay with News Channel Nebraska for further details.
