Columbus Mayor reacts as officer life flighted to Omaha

COLUMBUS -- A Columbus Police officer was in stable condition as he was being transported to an Omaha hospital by a medical helicopter according to Columbus Mayor Jim Bulkley. Bulkley said many police officers and medical personnel joined the officer at the Emergency Department of Columbus Community Hospital to support him and his family. Bulkley said in a statement: "The citizens of Columbus are praying for the officer and his entire family. This man represents the very best of our community and put his life on the line tonight so that we can live safely in the town we love. The Columbus Police Department is a family and right now this crew of dedicated public servants and community members is benefitting from an out-pouring of unconditional support that is amazing."   [caption id="attachment_1528759" align="aligncenter" width="120"] Columbus Mayor Jim Bulkley[/caption]
