COLUMBUS, Neb. – A Columbus man accused of becoming violent with a pregnant woman has pleaded not guilty to his charges.
30-year-old Ernesto Leon is charged with 3rd-degree assault of a pregnant woman and obstructing police. He told the court last Friday that he is innocent of the charges.
Police say, Leon began arguing with a woman on the morning of January 27th and later that night, it got violent, as he punched her three times and tossed her to the ground by her hair.
The officer says he could see clumps of hair on the floor of the trailer. Leon also punched and broke a window, according to reports.
Court documents say, officers arrested Leon near his residence, where he attempted to flee.
His next court date is set for May.
