Columbus Man Facing Felony 4th DUI

COLUMBUS - A Columbus man is making his first appearance in court, on a felony 4th-DUI charge, after being arrested in late October. A Platte County Deputy states in an arrest affidavit, that on October 23rd, he pulled over a vehicle, westbound on Highway 30, near East 29th Street. The Deputy states in the affidavit that there was an empty beer bottle in the back seat and the driver, Juan Lopez, 28, of Columbus tested positive for a .153 blood alcohol concentration. Lopez has 3 previous DUI convictions dating back to July of 2014, as well as March and October of 2011, says the affidavit. Lopez was also cited for speeding, and is scheduled for a first appearance in court on Monday, says court records. Fourth offense driving under the influence is a class 3A felony.
