Columbus Man Accused of Lengthy, High Speed Chase to be Sentenced Next Week

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Columbus man accused of leading police on a drunken, 15-mile, high speed chase will be sentenced on his felony conviction next week. 37-year-old Christopher Sky was found guilty last month of fleeing from police in a vehicle to avoid arrest. According to police and court records, in mid-November a speeding Sky refused a police order to pull over and instead sped up—hitting speeds over 100 MPH along Highway 81 until his car wound up in a ditch where Sky was slumped over and bleeding from the wrist. Police say he told them he injected “a large amount of methamphetamine.” He was originally charged with DUI, and other misdemeanors, but those were eventually dropped. He will be sentenced on March 2nd.
