MADISON -- Traffic on US Highway 81 near Madison was closed mid-afternoon Tuesday following a two vehicle accident just east of Industrial Parkway at the Tyson Foods Pork Plant entrance.
Madison County Sheriff's deputies, Madison Fire and Rescue personnel and troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol closed highway 32 south and north bound traffic and re-routed drivers onto the Industrial Parkway and highway 32 through Madison where officials were directing hundreds of travelers through the community.
Injuries are unknown at this time but a Madison ambulance proceeded north of Madison on highway 81 with what is believed to be a patient. Life Net medical helicopter was placed on standby. Snow and weather conditions are making travel difficult in southern Madison County.
