Coca-Cola Donates to Norfolk Public Schools

NORFOLK — Coca-Cola is trying to do their part to encourage healthy living in Norfolk. Chesterman Coca-Cola partnered with the Norfolk area Hy-Vees to give a portion of the profits from every Powerade purchased to the Norfolk Public Schools. Branch Manager Matt Gray says the effort fits with the company’s goals. “We took it upon ourselves to do something to support active lifestyles and giving back to the community,” Gray said. Officials from Coke and HyVee presented a check for $962 to Norfolk Public Schools on Tuesday morning with the request that it be used to support healthy programming. The funds were raised through their campaign that ran from May 1st to August 31st. Gray says they got the idea from a distributor in Sioux Falls and that it was successful enough that they plan to run the campaign annually. “I would love to see it continue to grow. I know our peers in Sioux Falls, the program continued to grow up north, so I’m hoping to see the same thing (here),” Gray said. Chesterman Coca-Cola is also looking to expand the program to Columbus.
