City Council Approves Many Ordinances
Broken Bow City Council held meeting on Tuesday, August 22

The Broken Bow City Council met on Tuesday, July 25th at noon at the City Council Chambers in the Municipal Building in downtown Broken Bow.

Following the approval of minutes of past meetings, the council started in on Old Business. Three separate ordinances concerning the annexation of Premier Storage LLC, Premier First Subdivision, and Opportunity Land Investments had public hearings, were read, and approved.

In new business, a request by Hannah Hundley on behalf of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce to block off Memorial Drive for a Color Run on September 30th was withdrawn as a different route for the run was chosen. However, the blocking off of streets for the Custer County Fair Parade was approved.

Broken Bow Legends Grill and Kinkaider Brewing Company both sought approval of their SDL Applications for two separate events to be held on August 19th as part of the NEclipse festivities.

Light fixtures from the Broken Bow Public Library were declared as surplus property following the approval of the 11th payment in the amount of $4,612 for the Library’s renovation and addition.

A vote to approve a payment to JEO Consulting Group Inc. for work completed on a street report in the amount of $666 was tabled until the next meeting.

A vote on Ordinance 1169, which deals with amended mayor and city council wages, was split until Mayor Cecil Burt broke the tied vote. A motion was made to accept the ordinance, which was approved unanimously by the council.

The only item denied in the meeting was an amendment to section 91.19 of Ordinance 1170, which deals with the size of curbside swaths before letting wildflowers grow.

The next City Council Meeting will be held on August 8th at 12pm. Keep your dial set to KCNI/KBBN Radio and check Sandhills Express for all the details.
