Central City, Multicultural Coalition honored for community efforts

OMAHA, NE (Omaha World-Herald News Source) – Central City was honored Monday by Gov. Pete Ricketts as the state’s 2019 “Showcase Community” for its economic development efforts, which include continuing local business growth and use of solar energy.

The award was given during a press conference marking “Economic Development Week” in the state.

Others honored Monday were:

— The Multicultural Coalition of Grand Island, a nonprofit that provides support for immigrant and refugee populations in the community.

— The Bellevue Junior Sports Association for its participation assistance program, which helps low-income families offset the costs of youth sports.

— Omaha contractor and community advocate Tom Lamb, whose construction company has rehabilitated 800 homes in the city since 1975.

— SSH Architecture of Lincoln, for developing a commercial and residential building in the Havelock area.
