HEBRON - The Cattlemen's Ball of Nebraska wrapped up Saturday. The event this year was held on the Hergott Farm in Hebron, Nebraska. 5,000 people attended the sold out 2-day event. Rob Marsh, Co-Host of the Cattlemen's ball said it's very safe to say that the event raised over a million dollars. Marsh is hoping they were close to 1.5 million dollars and will have the final figure in a couple of weeks.
The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska is a charity whose mission is to raise money for cancer research. Ninety percent of the profits from the two day event will go straight to fund research at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha, the other 10% will be donated back to the host’s local community health and wellness programs.
Held in a different and unique location each year, the Cattlemen’s Ball gives host communities the opportunity to showcase their area of the state. That is why this year's theme was whip cancer on the Oregon Trail. The event featured many things to do and see including a history tent of the Oregon Trail and Pony Express, Ranch Rodeo, Survivor Style Show, Air Show, and two nights of concerts featuring country singers Tracy Lawrence and Trace Adkins.
The 2019 Cattlemen's Ball will be held in Wauneta, a village of 577 in Chase County, Nebraska.
