Another busy weekend with the Pioneer Picnic in Callaway!

CALLAWAY–Come for the day, come for the weekend, fun for the whole family! The annual Callaway Pioneer Picnic kicks off tonight!

Event organizers are grateful to the Callaway Chamber of Commerce and all of the businesses and individuals who help make this weekend possible for the residents of Callaway, former residents, visitors, family, and friends. Ken Pitkin said it is a fun, relaxing weekend full of entertainment and good food.

“It’s a lot of hard work, people put in a lot of time and effort,” one volunteer told KCNI/KBBN on Friday morning.

Friday, June 28: 7  Valleys Museum Open, Swimming Pool open, 7 Valleys Rodeo at 7:30 p.m., Street Dance at Shotgun Annie’s at 8:30 p.m.

Shotgun Annie’s owner Candice Smith said she looks forward to the people traveling through Callaway as part of the Nebraska Passport Program and welcomes all the visitors who will be in town for the Pioneer Picnic. “It will be pretty fun and we’re looking forward to the Alumni people,” Smith said.

Saturday, June 29: Bubble Run, Sidewalk Chalk, Superheroes Parade at 10:45 a.m. (the parade winner will receive a plaque), Cook Shack open, Ice Cream Brownie Sundaes, Auto Show, Tropical Snow, Tail Twisters Cow Pie Bingo, Rock Wall and Interactive Light Play, Bounce Houses, Ping-Pong Ball, Train Rides, Bingo, Dodge Ball, Kids Races/Water Dodge Ball, Callaway Alumni Receptions, Kids Carnival, Callaway Memorial Garden Ribbon Cutting, Callaway High School Alumni Banquet and Program, Street Dance at Hangar 22 at 9 p.m.

Sunday, June 30: 7 Valleys Rodeo Cowboy Church and Breakfast, Museum open, Church in the Park at 11 a.m., Cook Shack and Swimming Pool open, Kids Carnival, Bingo, 3-on-3 Basketball, Toad and Turtle Races, 7 Valleys Rodeo at 7:30 p.m.
