The Broken Bow Lady Indians took the title at the Sutherland Volleyball Invitational on Saturday. Broken Bow opened with a win over Dundy County Stratton in round one. Broken Bow would lose the first set 17-25 but came back to win the 2nd 25-20 and the 3rd 25-20. In the semifinals, Bow won in straight sets over Overton 25-16, 28-26. Bow would meet Wood River in the championship with the Lady Indians winning in straight sets 26-24, 25-22. Broken Bow is now 7-5 on the season.
The South Loup Lady Bobcats remained undefeated on the season by winning the Brady Invitational on Saturday. In round one, South Loup def. Eustis-Farnam in straight sets 25-19, 25-9. Other first round matches saw Wauneta Palisade def. Anselmo-Merna, Maxwell def. Stapleton, and Brady def. Mullen. In the semifinals, South Loup won in straight sets over Wauneta Palisade 25-11, 25-16 and Maxwell def. Brady in straight sets 25-11, 30-28. South Loup would outlast Maxwell in the championship match. After dropping the first set 17-25, the Lady Bobcats fought back to win set 2 25-19 and won the 3rd 25-18. South Loup is now 14-0 on the season. In the consolation bracket, Anselmo-Merna def. Eustis Farnam in straight sets 25-9, 25-14 and Mullen def. Stapleton 25-12, 25-13. Mullen then defeated Anselmo-Merna in the 5th place match 25-20, 25-23.
Ansley/Litchfield defended its home court on Saturday by winning the Spartans Invitational. A/L def. Sandhills/Thedford in round 1 in straight sets 25-22, 25-11. In other first round action, Ewing def. Twin Loup ; Arcadia/Loup City def. Amherst ; and North Central def. SEM. In the semifinals, Ewing outlasted Arcadia/Loup City. Ewing dropped the first set to the Lady Rebels 23-25 but came back to win the 2nd set 25-16 and won in the third 25-11. The other semifinal also went 3 sets as Ansley/Litchfield lost to North Central in set 1 22-25 but came back and won set 2 25-14 and took set 3 25-17. In the championship match, Ansley/Litchfield def. Ewing in straight sets 25-22, 29-27. In the 3rd place match, North Central def. Arcadia/Loup City 2 sets to 1 and in the 5th place match Amherst def. Sandhills/Thedford 2 sets to 1.
