BROKEN BOW–The Broken Bow Police Department stepped up its enforcement of the mandatory safety belt law from May 21 and through June 1 during the annual Click It or Ticket statewide mobilization, according to Chief Steve Scott.
Two officers participated and during the mobilization there were 171 calls to service, 88 total contacts and 30 citations issued for speeding, driving under suspension, and seat belt citations. Two fugitives were also apprehended.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, in 2017 122 (71%) of the 171 fatally injured passenger vehicle occupants were not wearing safety belts.
