Broken Bow gets first win of the season

The Broken Bow Indians picked up its first win of the season with a 27-7 victory over Grand Island Central Catholic. Offensively, Broken Bow put together its best performance of the season behind an offensive line that helped pave the way. The Indians put together two impressive touchdown drives in the first half to set the tone. The first was an 80 yd. drive capped off by a 2 yd touchdown run by Cole Ulmer and the second was a 66 yd drive which ended with a 14 yd touchdown pass from Grayson Garey to Kevin Linn to make the score 13-0 at the half. In the second half, GICC would pull to within six points when quarterback Luke Wemhoff scored on a 4 yd touchdown run. The Broken Bow defense had three takeaways on the night and perhaps none bigger than the one that occurred in the 4th quarter when the Indians forced a fumble that was recovered and returned by Kevin Linn to the GICC 38 yd. line. Broken Bow would cash in a few plays later when Grayson Garey hooked up with Kevin Linn for the 2nd time on a 5 yd TD pass to make the score 20-7 with less than 3 minutes to play in the game. Then, with 58 seconds left, Tycen Marten would secure the win as he busted loose for a 53 yd TD run to make the final score Bow 27, GICC 7. Next up for Broken Bow is another road test as they travel to Minden on Friday (9/22).
