Broken Bow finishes 4th at girls state golf

As the final round of the Class C girls golf state championship began yesterday, Broken Bow girls golf coach Amy Taylor said the goal was to better their scores from the previous day. That they did. After shooting a team total 412 in difficult weather conditions on Monday, the Lady Indians took advantage of the nice weather on Tuesday and shot a 378 in the final round. That was the third best team score of the day behind Ogallala and Chadron. In the final team standings, Ogallala repeated as Class C state champions with a team total 723. Chadron finished second with a 757, Lincoln Christian was third with a 784 and Broken Bow was fourth with a 790. Ricki Hickstein of Chadron won the individual championship finishing 2 under par for the tournament. Abigail Cornelius and Kira Mestl tied for second with a two day total 162. Kailey Johnson led the way for Broken Bow. Johnson shot a 79 in the final round on Tuesday which was the second best score of the day. That gave Johnson a two day total of 170 which was good for sixth place. Here are the other Broken Bow scores. The numbers indicate first round score, second round score, and two day total.
