Broken Bow Chamber Has Voted To Accept Five Candidates To The Board Of Directors

BROKEN BOW—NEWS RELEASE: The Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce had a very interesting scenario regarding the Board of Directors for 2019. We have a total of 5 on the current Board of Directors whose terms are ending this year. The call for nominations was incredibly encouraging with 10 viable nominees to talk to. We would like to thank the 5 nominees who respectfully declined this year. We appreciate their honesty about having the time to dedicate. We will be talking to them in the future! Of those 10 there are 5 who feel they are able to commit the time and resources to being on the Board of Directors!

The Board reviewed the nominated and voted to accept the 5 candidates to fill the positions. We could send out ballots, but with 5 strong candidates and 5 positions the vote would be a moot point.

We are happy to introduce our newest Board of Directors Team Members starting in 2019:

Darren Tobey, Broken Bow Public Schools
Darren Tobey currently serves as the Superintendent of the Broken Bow Public Schools. This is Darren’s first year at BBPS, however his fifth year overall. He has additionally been employed as a K-12 P.E. and Title 1 teacher in the past. Darren has been involved in youth coaching as well as serving as the President of the BBPS Foundation. Darren completed his undergraduate K-12 degree at Peru State, his Principal degree through Chadron State College and K-12 Ed Specialist degree at Wayne State.

When asked what goals he would like to help the Chamber achieve he said he would like to “help continue to grow the city and create relationships.” Darren and his wife, Erica have a daughter Kinley and sons Kyan, Kanon and Kreyson.

Michelle Nelson, Custer County Fairgrounds
Michelle Nelson has been employed as the Events Coordinator at the Custer County Fairgrounds for 21⁄2 years. Prior to this position Michelle was a stay-at-home mom/wife and ranch wife for the past 10 years. Michelle serves on the Tourism Committee through the Chamber and holds as Associate of Arts degree.
Michelle’s goal is to “help to get Broken Bow on the map and Custer County.” She adds “we have a lot to offer in Broken Bow that I don’t feel many people know about.” Michelle and her husband Kent have 6 children, Caitlin, Ty, Kali, Kaycee, Karlee and Kyle.

Sara Arnold, Precious Angels Daycare Centers
Sara is the Infant Center Director and Assistant Director of the Main Center at Precious Angels Daycare Centers. She has been with Precious Angels for nearly 3 years and has held the nursing and preschool teacher positions as well. Sara graduated from Broken Bow High School. She is a LPN Graduate of Mid-Plains Community College and is currently in progress on the Early Childhood Education Associate of Arts Degree.

Sara would like to “Help get more people from around the county involved in the things that are area has to offer. Draw in more tourists. Help plan and brainstorm ideas/events to bring these people to Broken Bow in hopes of not only supporting our events but our small businesses.” First and foremost Sara is a happily married mother of 7! She has been blessed with 5 of her own and 2 bonus kiddos ranging in age from almost 24 to 3 with amazing grandbabies. “My life is my family. My family and my husband’s family are all Custer County natives. I was born and raised here, left for a while but always knew this was home and would be where I ended up.”

Brent Clark, City of Broken Bow
Brent Clark has served as the City Administrator for the City of Broken Bow for the past 31⁄2 years. He additionally has held the Zoning Administrator position. Brent has been involved with the Broken Bow Optimist, Broken Bow Lions Club, Custer County Salvation Army and the Custer County Economic Development Corporation. Brent received his B.S. from Wayne State College.

Brent would like to “assist in bridging the gap between all the incredible businesses, communities, and organizations throughout Custer County. Work to enhance the recruiting of new members, tourism activities and continue to promote the area.” Brent is married to Hailee and they are parents to Stella and Gwyn.

Morgan Olson, Great Western Bank
Morgan Olson is the Branch Manager at Great Western Bank. She has been with the bank for 8 years holding the positions of Teller, Lead Teller, Personal Banking Representative, Personal Banker and for the past 2 years Branch Manager. Morgan is part of the Salvation Army, attending regular meetings and helping with events in the community as much as possible. Morgan is a graduate of Anselmo-Merna Public Schools in 2008.

Morgan would like to “help spark interest in the next generation to get more involved in the community. Without them the future of Broken Bow might go backwards.” Morgan is married to Spencer Olson. They have 2 amazing boys, Aiden is 5 years old and Barrett is 1.
