Boone Central Cuts Ribbon on New Renovations

ALBION - Boone Central High School may be unrecognizable to alumni, as the district cuts the ribbon on the newly renovated facilities. A ceremony and tours were given on Wednesday, to show off the facility that boasts improvements in both the educational and athletic departments. Board of Education President Patti Meyer says the 1953 and 1972 sections of the building were completely remodeled, with exterior windows being replaced. Additionally a new wrestling deck, weight room, locker rooms, and gym makeup the improvements to athletic facilities. "It's pretty amazing because we thought all the hard work was just getting the bond passed, and then we realized how much work was ahead of us, to plan the construction and go through that process. So it's just very rewarding to see so many people here today, to come out and help us celebrate," says Meyer. Board Secretary and Treasurer Tim Stopak says the building also consists of a new kitchen, commons area, concession stand, restrooms, performance gym, as well as new offices and security features. "It's very exciting for the community. It's exciting for the students and staff. It's been a long project. We've had a lot of hard work put in by a lot of people, both community members, school members, and construction folks. It's just a really exciting day," says Stopak. A bond issue for the renovations passed in 2015 at an amount $12,990,000, with construction beginning in May of 2016.
