UPDATE: One Arrested, Another at Large After Assault

NORFOLK – A man was hospitalized after an assault and robbery in front of Tienda Leon’s Grocery Store and Restaurant in downtown Norfolk.

On Tuesday, just after 6 P.M., Norfolk Police responded to a report of an assault in the parking lot of Tienda Leon on Norfolk Avenue. Officers found an adult male victim who was bleeding heavily from his head and had teeth knocked out. The victim was also missing his wallet.

The victim was transported to Faith Regional Health Services for treatment. Police report that the victim said he had just left a business at 116 Norfolk Avenue, when two male suspects approached him to start a fight. When he tried to leave in his vehicle, they blocked his exit. When the victim got out of his car to ask them to move, they attacked him, repeatedly punching him, and kicking him while on the ground, before fleeing the scene. The victim told police he did not know the suspects.

During the investigation, Norfolk Officers obtained descriptions of the suspects, and executed two search warrants where evidence was obtained.
The two suspects were identified as 25-year-old Angel Villalobos and 32-year-old Jose Tamayo, both of Norfolk. Villalobos was located and arrested for Robbery and 1st Degree Assault. Villalobos was booked into the Norfolk City Jail and later transported to the Madison County Jail.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Tamayo with the same charges. If anyone knows where Tamayo is located, they are asked to call Norfolk Police at 402-644-8700.

NORFOLK – At least one person is injured after an assault near a Norfolk grocery store and restaurant.

Norfolk Police received reports of an assault around 6:05 p-m Tuesday in front of Tienda Leon’s Grocery Store and Restaurant in downtown Norfolk.

Blood was found in multiple locations on the scene including splatter on a vehicle parked out front, a trail across the parking lot, and more blood in front of the market.

Police didn’t comment on the nature of the assault or if a suspect was in custody.
