Representatives of Black Hills Energy receive GROW Award from Broken Bow Chamber at Kinkaider Brewing Co. on Tuesday afternoon
BROKEN BOW—Growth continues in central Nebraska. The Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce handed out a GROW award on Tuesday afternoon to Black Hills Energy, who has invested heavily in the area. A natural gas line was recently installed leading up to Kinkaider Brewing Company, who previously used propane gas. Justin Gould, Black Hills Energy Operations Manager out of Kearney, said this new line and $125,000 investment has helped fuel growth in the area as well as further develop the local distribution system. Governor Mike Foley and Senator Matt Williams were also in attendance at the GROW Award presentation[/caption] “Our role is just the investment of getting natural gas to Kinkaider. Coming from town, getting to the facility here, it was about a $125,000 investment that we made last year and as of today we are running gas up to the brewery here so working on getting everything converted and kind of partnering with Kinkaider for the project,” Gould said. Black Hills Energy Nebraska Vice President of Operations Jeff Sylvester said the continued investment and partnership with local businesses has helped meet the growing demand for safe, reliable energy in the north and west parts of town. He said the utility company serves 300 small communities in Nebraska. “We’re also working on a project to bring more gas to this part of town where a lot of the growth is in Broken Bow. So we’ve got about a $1 million investment that we’ll make this year to continue growing this part of Nebraska and in particular Broken Bow,” Sylvester said. Approximately 6,000 feet was installed starting by tying in to an existing line at N St. and 17th Avenue, according to Melissa Garcia with Black Hills Energy.
