BEATRICE - Beatrice Police are searching for a group of suspects in a west Beatrice home invasion burglary, where the occupant happened upon two people running out of his home.
Officers were sent to a burglary at about one a.m., to 915 West Mary Street. Lieutenant Mike Oliver says an AR-15 rifle and a CO-two pistol were stolen from the residence. Oliver says the occupant was in the bathroom of the home, heard commotion from the living room, and chased the intruders. The homeowner confronted them, and was pushed…before the suspects fled the scene.
Police are looking for four males, ages 18 to 28.
Oliver says police know the identity of at least two of the four suspects. Police went to the home where the suspects are believed to be residing at around 2:15 this morning, and observed one of the suspects running from the rear of the home, as officers arrived.
Nick Weidner and his wife Crystal were at home, when he came upon the intruders. Weidner says the gun that was taken, which he acquired as a hunting rifle, is valued at about $1,500. Nothing else apparently was stolen from the residence.
Weidner and his wife, were not injured.
Police were looking for a dark-colored, Mercury Mountaineer…seen leaving east on Scott Street. The vehicle had been parked on Sherman Street, in front of KWBE studios, before the occupants fled the scene.
