Beatrice Board of Education to Accept Superintendent Search Firm Proposals

BEATRICE – The Beatrice School Board will accept proposals from search firms, as the district looks to hire a new superintendent.

Beatrice Public Schools Superintendent Pat Nauroth announced last week that he will retire from his position, next June 30th…after five years heading the district.

School Board President Lisa Pieper says the district has already been contacted by a few search firms.   One board member, Doris Martin, wonders if the district could conduct its’ own search, bypassing the expense.

Board member Janet Byars says she would need to know the advantages and drawbacks other districts who have conducted their own searches, may have faced.  Board member Steve Winter has been through other searches for a superintendent as a member of the board.  He says conducting a search without an outside firm would create lot of work for the board.

Byars says it may be possible to undertake a hybrid process…some of it board-led…with the rest involving a search firm.

:24                  “for us”

Martin says she is concerned that search firms are typically made up, of only superintendents.

:19                  “reach out, to firms”

Superintendent Pat Nauroth says, however, the make-up of search firms can vary.

:21                  “with that”

The District 15 Board set no specific timetable for receiving search firm proposals.
