BD Investing Over $200 Million In Nebraska Operations; Will Create 300 Statewide Jobs

COLUMBUS - BD announced on Tuesday that it will be investing $200 million in its Nebraska operations, which will create 300 new jobs statewide. BD held a ceremony at its Columbus facility to celebrate the announcement, with Nebraska government officials as well as Columbus community leaders in attendance. Governor Pete Ricketts was also at the ceremony, where he made remarks on how important the continued development of the manufacturing industry is to the state of Nebraska. The ceremony also saw both state and BD officials sign a commitment letter for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The letter signifies that BD will actively recruit veteran for open positions, and recognizes BD's commitment to protecting the jobs of troops in the Reserves and National Guard when they are called to duty. The announcement brings BD's total company investment in its Nebraska facilities to over $340 million in the past two years. BD investing $100 million in 2016 for its Holdrege facility, and over $40 million in equipment, facility upgrades, and infrastructure improvements for its Broken Bow facility as well. After the ceremony, Gov. Ricketts took questions from those in attendance, and topics included affordable housing, health care reform, and the new slogan by the Nebraska Tourism Commission.
