BBPD To Participate In Upcoming Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign During The Holidays

The winter holidays are a special time for families, friends and co-workers to travel for celebrations.  The Broken Bow Police Department will be participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over impaired driving awareness campaign, which runs from December 17, 2021 to January 1, 2022

In 2020, 6,412 drivers were arrested for DUI and there were 1,534 alcohol related crashes in Nebraska, there were 76 fatalities and an additional 602 injuries.  Nebraska’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving organization analyzed 3,000 DUI cases that occurred in 2020.  These cases were primarily misdemeanor charges, unless the individual was charged with DUI 3rd .15+ or higher – those are considered felony offenses in the state of Nebraska.

The Broken Bow Police Department will be joined by over 10,000 law enforcement agencies across the country to achieve our goal of reducing traffic injuries and fatalities.

Broken Bow Police Chief Steve Scott said “We want our community members to understand that it is our first priority to keep people safe, so we are asking everyone to plan ahead if they know they will be out drinking”.
