ARNOLD--In April, Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) announced the winning artists of the 2017 Congressional Art Competition for Nebraska’s Third District.
According to Smith’s website, he worked with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to coordinate the competition. The first place artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The runners-up artwork will be displayed in Smith’s Washington, D.C., Grand Island, and Scottsbluff offices.
A Custer County student had the opportunity to meet the Congressman on Thursday morning and was recognized for his second place piece, “River’s Glass” during a school presentation. Leighton Bubak, a junior at Arnold Public Schools, was named the runner up this year and was also awarded a certificate in 2016 for his artwork.
Congratulations Leighton Bubak for sharing your talents and representing Custer County.
“Congratulations to all of the young artists from across the Third District who shared their talents in this competition, as well as the teachers who have cultivated their creativity,” Smith said. “I am excited to share the winners’ work with visitors to the U.S. Capitol and my offices in Washington, D.C., and Nebraska.”
