Ariens Announces Closing Of Auburn Manufacturing Plant

AUBURN – Ariens Co. told its employees Thursday that a company restructuring plan includes the closing of the Auburn plant this fall. Auburn City Administrator Kim Beger said local officials are working with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and the Nebraska Public Power District economic development team to find a buyer for the facility. She said the company, based in Brillion, Wisc., has offered employees a chance to relocate to  Wisconsin, but local officials hope a buyer can be found so the workers do not lose their jobs. Beger: “We are all working very hard together.” Ariens, which is the second largest employer in Nemaha County, purchased the property from Auburn Consolidated Industries in 2007. It has about 190 employees. Beger said the city is optimistic a buyer can be found. Beger: “We have a huge asset in our employees and our management team, so we are working to get a buyer and keep everybody employed.” The company held a meeting with employees at 2 p.m.  followed by a meeting with local and state officials.
