Area Man Found Guilty of Drug and Weapons Charges in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Norfolk man accused of stealing a vehicle, possessing meth and weapons, was convicted on drug and weapon charges last week. 47-year-old Brian Hrdlicka was found guilty of illegal possession of a deadly weapon and meth possession. According to Platte County Sheriff Ed Wemhoff, around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, deputies found a stolen 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix with three people inside. Wemhoff says after searching the suspects, the deputies found meth, brass knuckles and a knife. The driver, 47-year-old Brian Hrdlicka of Norfolk, attempted to flee but was quickly caught, according to Wemhoff. Prosecutors dropped another felony weapons charge and two misdemeanors, including theft and obstructing an officer. Hrdlicka faces a max of six years in prison.
