Anselmo-Merna Could Be Running On A New 6-Lane Track By 2020; Public Forum Friday, March 1

Anselmo-Merna Public Schools is looking to replace their track, but they want the input of the public before moving forward. The track is currently in rough shape and has been in need of replacement for many years.

After the board discussed pricing and the process with track experts, the possibility that the new surface could be ready to run on by the 2020 track season, is entirely possible.

“One thing we’re looking at very seriously right now is going ahead and doing a complete track renovation and creating a 6-lane track with a rubberized surface,” said A-M Superintendent Dr. Logan Lightfoot.

The public forum will be held at Anselmo-Merna Public Schools at 7 PM on Friday, March 1 and is open to anyone and everyone who may want to know more about the project or who have concerns.

Also joining the forum will be Sam Fisher, from Fisher Tracks, to discuss the process of the renovation.

Dr. Lightfoot talked about the need for the public to be there so that the board and others could explain all the details and answer any questions that anyone might have.

Dr. Lightfoot also said, “We want to make sure whatever we do that it’s something that benefits our student body and our community, but also is something that is wise with our tax payers and our patrons.”
