Meeting Procedure
The Public may address specific agenda items at the pleasure of the Mayor. Please come to the podium, state your name and address, and limit your remarks to five minutes or less. Out of respect to City employees, we request that any complaints or criticisms of employees not be aired in a public meeting. Concerns about employees should be brought to the attention of the City Administrator or Mayor. An individual in violation will be declared out of order.
A. Call to Order
B. Open Meetings Act: In accordance with Section 84-1412 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes, a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is available and is posted for review by all citizens.
C. Roll Call
D. Pledge of Allegiance
E. Submittal of Requests for Future Items: Individuals who have appropriate items for City Council consideration should complete the Request for Future Agenda Items. If the issue can be handled administratively without Council action, notification will be provided. If the item is scheduled for a meeting or study session, notification of the date will be given.
F. Consent Agenda: Consideration of approving the consent agenda items for August 25, 2020, which will include the following:
a. Approval of Minutes of August 11, 2020 Meeting
b. Approval of Minutes of August 18, 2020 Budget Workshop
c. Approval of Bills as Posted
d. Approval of July Treasurer Report
G. New Business:
a. Airport Authority Board Appointment – Consideration of approving the appointment of Dan Jelinek to the Broken Bow Airport Authority Board.
b. Housing Authority Board Reappointment – Consideration of approving the reappointment of Lola Chapin to the Housing Authority Board for a term ending June 2025.
c. Board of Public Works Board Reappointment – Consideration of approving the reappointment of Chad Schall to the Board of Public Works for a term ending June 2024.
d. League of Nebraska Municipalities Ballot & Amendments – Consider a motion to: 1) approve amendments to the “Articles of Incorporation” and “Bylaws” of the League of Nebraska Municipalities by voting “for” Proposed Actions 1, 2, and 3 on the attached “Regular Member Ballot”; 2) authorize the Mayor to sign the “Regular Member Ballot”; and 3)return both pages of the “Regular Member Ballot” to the League by no later than 5 pm CT, October 1, 2020.
e. Set Date for Budget Hearing – Consideration of setting the date for the Budget Hearing for the 2020-2021 Budget.
f. Public Hearing, Ordinance 1227, Amending Tobacco Age – Consideration of opening a public hearing on Ordinance 1227, Amending Tobacco Age.
g. Waive Three Readings of Ordinance 1227 – Consideration of waiving the three readings of Ordinance 1227.
h. Ordinance 1227, Amending Tobacco Age – Consideration of approving Ordinance 1227, Amending Tobacco Age.
H. Adjournment
The next City Council Meeting will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
