Additional Positive COVID Cases Reported by LBPHD; 1 Recent Death in Howard County

BURWELL–KCNI/KBBN posted a story on Wednesday, August 12 regarding an increase in COVID-19 cases within the Loup Basin Public Health Department‘s (LBPHD) jurisdiction between August 7 and August 11.

Since Tuesday, the LBPHD reported on Facebook that seven new cases have been reported. The new cases are in Custer (5), Valley (1) and Sherman (1) counties.

The post states: “The Valley County case is due to community spread. The Sherman County case is from direct contact to a known positive. The Custer County cases are from direct contact to a known positive (2) and three deemed to be community spread. All identified close contacts have been asked to quarantine.”

In addition, the health department reported a death in Howard County, which marks the ninth COVID-19 related death within the district. LBPHD reports the person had underlying health conditions and was confirmed to have the coronavirus.
