7th Annual “Celebrating Sargent Banquet” on August 20

SARGENT–The City of Sargent will celebrate community members and businesses during the 7th annual “Celebrating Sargent Banquet.” The Sargent Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the banquet to be held on Friday, August 20 at the Sargent Community Center. Tickets are available for $20 each or $125 for a Table of 8.

Sargent Public Schools Business teacher, Economic Development board member, and banquet organizer Jan Osborn told KCNI/KBBN she thinks it is important to recognize those who contribute to the community of Sargent.

“I just think it’s important to recognize them,” Jan Osborn said. “Whether it be the businesses or definitely the people in a small town are involved in everything and they volunteer their time, money, resources, and so I don’t feel like they get enough recognition.”

The Sargent Chamber of Commerce invites the public to celebrate with Social Hour from 6 to 7 p.m. and Supper at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 20. The evening will include a pork loin dinner, entertainment with the Hometown Takeover Video made prior to COVID-19 to promote Sargent, and awards.

Awards being presented will include Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Excellence in Customer Service, and the Rising Star award.

The event did not take place last year due to COVID-19 but Jackie Ropers with the chamber told KCNI/KBBN she is looking forward to celebrating the positive things going on.

“Like I said, in a small town, a lot of times they own a business but they also are on a lot of committees or involved in other organizations and I just think they need to be commended for that,” Osborn said.

Tickets are available at Forget Me Not Shoppe and First National Bank. Following the banquet, a card party and social time will continue until midnight.
