3 of 4 Platte County Board Seats Have Competitive Elections in 2018

COLUMBUS, Neb. - Three out of the four open Platte County Board of Supervisor seats will have competitive elections in this next year. The filing deadline passed last Thursday and several challengers filed right before the deadline. The district 1 seat will see a new supervisor elected this year, as incumbent Tom Martens withdrew his candidacy due to health reasons. Running for the seat are Columbus residents: John R. Harms (L), Todd Stuthman (R), Fred Liss (R) and Barb Siedlik (D). The district five seat will be a three-man race between incumbent Bob Lloyd (R) of Monroe, Randy Fisher (R) of Monroe and Ralph Hefti (R) of Columbus. In district 7, incumbent Hollie Olk (R) will take on Kim Kwapnioski (R), both of Columbus. Columbus resident and incumbent James Scow (R) will run un-opposed in district 3. Liss, Siedlik, Fisher, Hefti and Kwapnioski all filed in the final few days of the deadline. The primary election is May 15th.
