14th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race March 4-5

If you are looking for some winter fun that is out of the ordinary join in on the fun of the 14th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race, coming up this weekend! The 14th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race is being held to create awareness of the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway, and to allow people to participate in the unique experience of Tanking on the Middle Loup River in the winter and as a fundraiser for the Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway.

Register now to insure your teams participation. Registration will be on a first-come, first serve basis. Once registered you will receive a complete information packet including maps, lodging information and a complete schedule of events.

Schedule of Events:

Friday, March 4 (All Times Mountain Time)

4-5:30 PM
Registration of Teams & Welcome Reception at the Mullen Event Center on the fairgrounds west of Mullen on the north side of Highway 2. You must attend the registration and the Welcome Reception in order to be a qualified race team.

5 PM
Soup Cook Off- Sample various soups from Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway Communities.

Drawings for race departure times will be held immediately following the Soup Cook-off

 

Saturday, March 5 (All Times Are Mountain Time)

8 AM
Breakfast at Mullen Event Center

Transportation will be provided to the launch site on the Middle Loup River from the Event Center

9 AM
First bus leave Event Center to launch area, other tanks launched in short intervals according to the draw order

A hot lunch will be provided after the race.
Transportation will be provided from the finish line back to the Event Center

5 PM
14th Annual Polar Bear Tank Race Awards Banquet- Mullen Event Center

 

Registration forms are available at sandhillsjourney.com. The registration fee is $210 (must be at least 21 to enter) per person.

The SJNSB encourages entries to include a team name and to wear costumes, decorate the tank, and have fun at this one of kind event in Central Nebraska!
