13-year-old Shelby Girl Killed in Hunting Accident

GENOA, Neb. - A teenage girl from Shelby was killed in a hunting accident in Genoa Sunday evening. According to the Nance County Sheriff's Office, a 13-year-old girl was hunting with her father and two family friends around 5:30 p.m., along the Loup River, when a black powder gun she was using accidentally went off and struck her. The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital in Genoa. The sheriff's office and the Nebraska State Patrol determined that it was a "tragic accident," according to the press release.
