Lengthy Arbitrator Session with Blair Police Union, City

BLAIR – Seven hours with an independent Arbitrator Friday – The City of Blair and the Fraternal Order of Police presented their arguments and called witnesses – this from a requirement passed by the Blair City Council in August that new Blair Police officers are required to reside in Washington County and existing officers must be within a 30 minute response time.    The Blair Fraternal Order of Police filed a grievance regarding that residency ordinance.    The F O P has seven days to give a written brief to the arbitrator, after which the City of Blair has seven days to submit their brief.  The Arbitrator will make a ruling after both summaries are received.
