Wolverines end Huskers’ streak, pick up win in Big Ten wrestling dual

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Fourth-ranked Michigan won seven of Friday’s 10 matches as the Wolverines downed No. 15 Nebraska 24-10 in a Big Ten wrestling dual.

Nebraska, which had won its previous five duals, trailed 15-3 at the midway point before CJ Red won his 141-pound match and Colton McCrystal followed with a major decision at 149 to pull the Huskers within 15-10.

But momentum turned as Michigan won the 157- and 165-pound matches that pitted ranked wrestlers.

At 157, NU’s Tyler Berger, ranked eighth, and No. 7 Alec Pantaleo were tied 2-2 after two periods before Pantaleo pulled away to a 9-3 win. Then at 165, NU’s Isaiah White, ranked 12th, and No. 9 Logan Massa were tied 1-1 before Massa recorded a takedown in sudden victory.

Nebraska stays on the road to face Michigan State at noon Sunday.
