Wolfpack wins eight straight to finish off Husker wrestling

LINCOLN — Sixth-ranked North Carolina State turned in a dominant performance as the Wolfpack rolled to a 29-3 dual win over No. 12 Nebraska Friday at the Devaney Center.

The Wolfpack, who improve to 10-0 in duals this season, opened the night with an upset win at 157 pounds as 16th-ranked Hayden Hidlay earned a 6-3 decision over No. 7 Tyler Berger. NU’s Isaiah White won 9-3 in the 165-pound match, but North Carolina State took the final eight matches. That included a pair of matches between top-10 opponents.

At 184, No. 3 Pete Renda got a four-point near-fall in the first period to open an 8-4 lead against No. 6 Taylor Venz en route to a 9-6 victory. And at 141, No. 2 Kevin Jack scored the first eight points in a 9-3 win over No. 8 CJ Red.

Nebraska returns to action against North Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Devaney Center.
