Three Huskers qualify for national track and field meet

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Three Nebraska athletes qualified for nationals Friday during the second day of the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

Nebraska had two qualifiers in the men’s discus. Nick Percy placed second with a throw of 190 feet, 10 inches, while Carlos Davis, who also plays football at Nebraska, took third with a personal-best 188-1.

Moujtaba Mohammed was the first Husker to qualify for the NCAA meet on the track. He earned automatic qualification in the 800 meters by finishing third in his quarterfinal heat with a time of 1:48.88.

Six Huskers have qualified for the NCAA meet so far. The NCAA West Preliminary Round continues Saturday.
