LINCOLN — Four hours after Nebraska introduced Fred Hoiberg, sophomore guard Thomas Allen said his final goodbye to the program with a Twitter post.

“I’ve decided to keep my name in the transfer portal and move on,” Allen wrote in part.

The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 8.7 points, two assists and 1.3 steals per game this season for the Huskers. He injured an ankle in a Feb. 28 loss to Michigan and did not play the rest of the season.

Allen’s departure leaves the Huskers inexperienced at guard, where Glynn Watson and James Palmer used up their eligibility. NU’s top guard for next season, presuming he stays, would likely be Dachon Burke, a transfer from Robert Morris who averaged 17.6 points per game in 2017-18. NU has Amir Harris, Thorir Thorbjarnarson, Nana Akenten, Karrington Davis and potentially Johnny Trueblood returning as well.
