No. 14 Huskers rebound with win against Montana

PULLMAN, Wash. — No. 14 Nebraska bounced back from its first loss of the season as the Huskers downed Montana 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Senior Haley Hanson scored the lone goal off a free kick from 25 yards out with less than seven minutes left in the opening half. It was Hanson’s team-best fourth goal this season.

Nebraska finished with a 10-5 shot advantage. Goalkeeper Aubrei Corder had to make two saves, both in the second half, as she recorded her fourth shutout this season and the 15th of her career.

The Huskers had opened play in Pullman with a 1-0 loss to Washington State on Friday. Sunday’s win improves NU to 5-1.

Nebraska will play a pair of games next weekend at Hibner Stadium. The Huskers face San Diego State at 7 p.m. Friday and Pittsburgh at 1 p.m. Sunday.
