Nebraska women’s soccer team shuts out Maryland

LINCOLN — Senior Haley Hanson scored a pair of second-half goals to help Nebraska pull away to a 3-0 Big Ten win over Maryland on Thursday night.

It was the seventh time this season that Nebraska (8-3-2) has scored three goals in a game. The Huskers have scored 25 goals this season, matching last season’s 21-game total.

Nebraska grabbed the lead when freshman Theresa Pujado scored her first career goal with just under eight minutes left before halftime.

Nebraska quickly put the game out of the reach. Just 63 seconds after halftime, Hanson scored on an assist from Amanda McClanahan. Fifteen minutes later, Hanson added her second goal on a Caroline Buelt assist.

Nebraska hosts No. 23 Rutgers on Sunday at 3 p.m. The match will be televised on ESPNU.
