Nebraska women finish strong to beat SIU-Edwardsville

LINCOLN — The Nebraska women’s basketball team scored the final 13 points of the third quarter to take control against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and the Huskers went on to post a 62-53 win Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers trailed 38-30 midway through the third after the Cougars had run off nine straight points. After a timeout, NU switched to a 1-3-1 zone defense and went on a 15-0 run that stretched into the fourth quarter.

Nebraska was paced on offense by a pair of newcomers. UMass transfer Bria Stallworth finished with 21 points and six assists, while freshman center Kate Cain added 18 points and nine rebounds.
