Nebraska Track and Field Produce Two Academic All Americans

Nebraska track and field senior Kevin Cahoy was named to the 2019-20 Google Cloud Academic All-America First Team and senior Luke Siedhoff was named to the Second Team on Thursday, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced. The awards move Nebraska’s nation-leading Academic All-America total to 340 all-time across all sports.

Cahoy, a Grand Island native, has a 3.99 GPA majoring in biological sciences and microbiology. He finished third in the pole vault at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships with a personal-best clearance of 17-3 1/2 (5.27m).

A 2018-19 CoSIDA Second-Team All-American, Cahoy was also a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and academic All-Big Ten selection. He was on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in both 2019 and 2020 and is a three-time member of the USTFCCCA All-America Team.

Cahoy becomes the 10th Husker male track and field student-athlete to earn multiple Academic All-America awards in a career and the first since Drew Wiseman in 2015 and 2017.

Siedhoff, a Crete native, has a 3.91 GPA while majoring in biological sciences and Spanish. He received second-team All-Big Ten honors in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships with a time of 7.79 to finish as the runner-up. In the prelims at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, he ran a personal-best time of 7.78 in the 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the finals, good for the No. 7 time on the NU top-10 list.

The 2019-20 Nebraska Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Siedhoff is a three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and academic All-Big Ten Selection. He was also a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in 2020 and is a three-time member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
