Nebraska softball fails to score in loss to Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS — Amber Fiser and Sydney Smith combined on a five-hit shutout to lead Minnesota to a 6-0 Big Ten softball victory over Nebraska.

The Huskers (30-16, 8-7) had just one extra-base hit, a triple by right fielder Alyvia Simmons, to lead off the first inning. The Huskers, who lost 10-1 on Friday, also left eight runners on base.

Freshman Olivia Ferrell pitched a complete game for Nebraska, going six innings and giving up eight hits.

The final game of the three-game series is Sunday at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
