Nebraska Men Pick Up Win in Final Non Conference Game of Season

Lincoln, Neb. – Four Huskers scored in double figures, as Nebraska (6-7) closed its non-conference slate with a 73-52 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Haanif Cheatham led the Big Red with 17 points, while Yvan Ouedraogo had 11 and Cam Mack and Matej Kavas each produced 10-point performances. Ouedraogo grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to establish a new a career high.

NU’s defense forced 21 turnovers and scored 24 of its points off those turnovers. The Huskers held the Islanders to 32 percent shooting for the game. Jordan Hairston led Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with 19 points. Irshaad Hunte also managed double figures with his 11 points against the Big Red.

Nebraska outscored the Islanders in the first half, 34-21, before holding a 39-31 advantage in the second half.

The Huskers return to action on Friday when they host Rutgers at Pinnacle Bank Arena, starting at 7 p.m., on Big Ten Network. NU is 1-1 in Big Ten play with a win over Purdue on Dec. 15 after a narrow loss at Indiana in overtime on Dec. 13.
