Nebraska beach volleyball rolls in season’s first home match

LINCOLN — Nebraska cruised to a 4-1 win over Missouri State on Friday in its first home match of the season.

The Huskers’ No. 5 pair of Allie Havers and Jasmine Schmidt swept Ivy Reynolds and Lynsey Wright 21-12, 21-11. The Bears responded with a win at No. 4, as Sam Brinkmann and Mikaela Mosquera beat Hayley Densberger and Chesney McClellan 17-21, 21-17, 17-15.

Nebraska’s Sami Slaughter and Jazz Sweet beat Maddie Back and Sarah Demmer 22-24, 26-24, 15-11 at No. 3 and Annika Albrecht and Kenzie Maloney clinched the match for Nebraska with a 21-18, 22-20 win over Aubrey Cheffey and Julia Hanson at No. 2. The Huskers’ No. 1 team of Kelly Hunter and Lauren Stivrins rallied to beat Taylor Fricano and Veronica Snelling 17-21, 21-13, 15-8.

The Huskers (2-4) will host Missouri Baptist at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
