Nebraska beach volleyball opens play at Heineken Hawaii Invitational with three losses

HONOLULU — The Nebraska beach volleyball team opened play at the Heineken Hawaii Invitational on Saturday with three losses.

The Huskers fell 3-2 against Boise State before being swept 5-0 by No. 9 California and No. 5 Hawaii on Queen’s Beach.

The No. 3 team of Mari Kurkova and Madi Kubik and No. 5 pair of Callie Schwarzenbach and Megan Miller earned three-set victories for NU against Boise State.

Nebraska lost three three-setters against California before losing all five matches against Hawaii in two sets.

The Huskers (10-4) will finish the tournament with two matches Sunday.​​
