LINCOLN — Nebraska, which regularly pursues long, rangy combo guards and wing players, reeled in another Thursday with the commitment of Amir Harris of Hagerstown, Maryland.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound three- star recruit can play both guard spots. He had committed to Rhode Island in the fall before reopening his recruiting.
He visited Nebraska and Auburn this month before picking the Huskers. He also had offers from DePaul, California and Temple.
Harris joins 6-11 forward Brady Heiman from Platteview, 6-6 wing Karrington Davis and 6-4 transfer guard Dachon Burke from Robert Morris as signees. Burke must sit out the 2018-19 season, then he will have two years of eligibility.
At St. James High in suburban Washington, Harris averaged 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals per game. Scouting reports indicate Harris is best known for his defense and skill in distributing the ball.
